AutoCAD basic knowledge

Introduction:

AutoCAD is the software of Autodesk inc. Autodesk is an American software company that makes architecture, media, education, engineering, construction software. AutoCAD was released in December 1982.

What is AutoCAD?

CAD stands for Computer-Aided Design. It is a tool which allows different types of designers to create various kind of drawing and design. It provides various kinds of options, which helps in creating design very quickly than by hand.

What is the use of AutoCAD?

With the help of AutoCAD, we can create 2D designs, 3D models easily. With the help of this software, we can draw dimensions very precisely. We can give different properties to different layers or groups. These layers or groups are generally created by the user.

The software can be used for simple projects like graphs, presentations, or complex designs such as drawing architecture building.

Some other uses can be:
  • Interior design
  • Aeronautical design
  • Maps
  • Engineering design
  • Architectural design
  • Logos

Who uses AutoCAD?

AutoCAD has numerous capabilities. This software is more design-centered. Generally, Architectures and Engineers use this software. Although, other professions like mathematicians or fine artists may use to create visuals. The following professions use this software with a variety of work.

  • Civil Engineer
  • Mechanical Engineer
  • Architectural
  • Interior designer
  • Graphic designer
  • Electrical engineer

Can we get certified in AutoCAD?

Yes, you can get certified in AutoCAD. Autodesk itself offers certification in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional certification, which may be useful for the carrier in drafting and design.

Other colleges and universities may offer their own AutoCAD certified programs.

AutoCAD Versions:

AutoCAD LT:

It is a lower-cost version of AutoCAD, with reduced features. There are many differences between AutoCAD LT and a full package of AutoCAD like 3D capabilities, network licensing customization, and many more.

AutoCAD Students version:

AutoCAD offers a free license to students, educators, and educational institutions for 1 year. License acquired before 20 march 2020 was licensed for 3 years. The student version is identical to the full commercial version. But there is a problem, In students version, DWG files are created with internal "education flag". For example: When you will go to convert DWG files to PDF, student version mark see on four sides of the paper. Objects that are created in student versions can't be used for commercial purposes.

AutoCAD 360:

It is free CAD software that allows you to view, edit, and share drawings from your smartphone, tablet, or PC. It is designed especially for those who have little or no knowledge of CAD.

Languages:

AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT are available in Spanish, French, English, Russian, German, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Czech, Polish, and Hungarian.
